Last night’s meeting went well, the first of our “summer school” sessions, intended to address some of the learning needs within the society. It was well attended and I am sure that everyone picked something up or re-learned something they had once known but forgotten!
Mike spent the first hour going into lots of detail about how to re-size and save images for projected image competitions, paying attention to colour space, resampling and sharpening methods, adding background colours and saving as jpg. I think Mike was rather surprised that this “mini-topic” took up his first hour, but there were plenty of relevant questions to answer.
In the second half he tacked a rather big subject…blending modes. Mercifully sparing us all the mathematical equations, Mike chose to demonstrate the most commonly used ones with a graphic on two layers and then a few practical examples of when to use those particular blending modes were discussed.
Next week, Mike will tackle Pictures to Exe. The following two weeks, I will do a PhotoShop session and a Lightroom session. Let me know if there is anything you wish to be included.
