Well Done Jeni!

Congratulations to Jeni Harney, who attended the L&CPU Bob Robinson Competition day (previously known at the Novice Cup).

Alongside the Bob Robinson competition, the L&CPU ran a “Bring a Print” competition, which Jeni won with her image of a rose, submerged in ink-streaked water and printed on metallic paper. It does absolutely glow!

If that wasn’t enough, Jeni also had a “Judge’s Choice” with her cyanotype work, “Cosmos”, shown below. The method of making this is included in the caption below the picture.

A botanical print, also known as a wet cyanotype. This type of image is made by the sun. A coated sheet of paper has leaves, flowers or part of a plant placed on it and is placed into a contact printing frame. It is then left in a sunny spot in the garden, or on a windowsill for a number of hours, before being taken out of the frame, the plant removed and then the print being washed.

Jeni says “I thought it was a really good idea for a competition, and the fact it was run alongside the Novice cup as well gave a bit more interest to the day. The eight prints that had been picked out of the bring a print selection were all stunning prints. The standard was excellent. I also need to remember to put my name on if there’s a next time!”

Well done Jeni!
