Each year, the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) hosts the prestigious Great British Cup competitions, featuring categories for Nature and Open Subjects. A panel of three experienced judges marks the submissions out of 15, with each club allowed to enter up to 24 images per competition. The club’s final score is determined by aggregating the marks of its 12 highest-rated images.
This year ‘The GB Cup for Nature’, comprising 1096 images, was judged on Saturday 29th of March 2025 by David Gibbins, Daphne Hanson and Neil Smith. The ‘The GB Cup’ (Open) was judged on Sunday 30th of March 2025 by the same panel of judges and comprised 1162 images.
Oldham PS entered the maximum of 24 images in each competition, chosen, as usual, by our external competition selectors, Mike Lawrence and Christine Widdall. Whatever the final outcome, every entry is carefully chosen. This is a club effort and we could not do this without members providing their images for us to use, so thank you to everyone involved.
Results
Oldham PS were placed 3rd in nature and 4th in Open, our highest positions to date.
Awards
Andrea Wilson was awarded a ribbon in Nature for “Scathophaga species mating”. Jane Henthorn received a ribbon in Open for “Brothers”. (See thumbnail sheet for both).
