L&CPU Annual Individuals’ Competition

Home » L&CPU Annual Individuals’ Competition

The Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union (L&CPU) Competition for individual club members was postponed because of Covid-19, but thanks to some new software developed by Adrian Lines, it was run over last weekend and club members were able to watch the judging via a Zoom link. The competition is open to any member of an L&CPU listed club.

The judges were three members of World Cup winning club from Northern Ireland “Catchlight Camera Club” each judging simultaneously from the comfort of their own homes. Unfortunately we weren’t able to give prior notice that members could watch as it was just publicised “on the day” to members who have signed up for email notifications of L&CPU news and on their Facebook Page.

Our Entrants

Eight adult members and one junior member decided to have a go. Each adult entrant was able to enter 4 images in each of Open Colour, Monochrome and Nature sections. In a separate competition, our junior member could enter 4 images…and didn’t we do well as a society?

We had four members in the top 24 places and two members won awards in the eight hour long judging session on Saturday. Christine Widdall was overall in 3rd place when all 12 images were judged from each entrant. She also had two awards. Eddie Leach was placed 5th overall, also with an award. Gill Brett was 20th and Sandra Walker 24th. To have 4 of our members so well placed was really excellent!

The slide show has one image from each entrant, chosen by themselves (photographer’s name is below each image)…

In the Junior Section, judged on Sunday, our young member Brianna won 4 awards with her entry of four images, including a Silver medal for a picture of Eddie, “Joker’s Tear”. Well done Brianna! A fantastic result and keep up the good work.

Awarded a Silver Medal in the Junior Section

The Full scores can be seen on the L&CPU Facebook Page.

Slideshows of each of the three sections are on YouTube, linked below, showing the images that scored 12 or more in the competition. Our thanks to the L&CPU and especially to Adrian for enabling this event to take place:
