To help cutting a card matte when mounting your prints

For a tutorial on cutting a card matte look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVhXkfk91rw.

The assumption is you will use millimetres though you are free to use whatever units you prefer.

Enter the actual size of the mount board in the BOARD WIDTH and BOARD HEIGHT fields below (the common default sizes are already in).

Enter the actual size of the print image in the PRINT WIDTH and PRINT HEIGHT fields below.

Set the PRINT MARGIN field (positive numbers give a white margin, negative numbers overlap the image, 4-5mm is usually a suitable amount).

Then select a vertical offset. The form will calculate a suitable offset although you are free to set your own or not.

The measurements will appear on the diagram at the bottom.

Put your print image size here:

For a successful matte you need to have either a thin border between the image and the card or have the card overlap the image depending on your preference. Enter this number in the PRINT MARGIN field (positive numbers give a white margin, negative numbers overlap the image, 4-5mm is usually a suitable amount).

Print Margin
Border around the print (negative to hide edge of print in matte)

Enter your Vertical Offset from the bottom of the board. Calculated Offset will give a visually pleasing result, Centre will centre the image with 0 offset, Align with top or bottom will try to make the top or bottom measurement the same as the sides, if possible.
