Oldham Photographic Society is a UK amateur photographic society meeting weekly at the North Chadderton Conservative Club, Chadderton, Oldham, “to associate its members for the purpose of mutual assistance in all matters pertaining to photography”.

What personal data we collect

Media

Members’ images are uploaded to the website in accordance with the society’s Data Protection and Social Media Policy. This policy document is available to members as a download from the Members’ page. 

Be aware that visitors to the website can download and extract EXIF data from uploaded images, including personal data, so it is advisable for members to check what data is embedded in your files.

Photographs of people will be published on the website, including in, but not confined to, articles, competition reports and galleries. These may have been taken at photographic studio sessions, workshops and events or may be candid photographs taken without the subjects’ knowledge (e.g. street photography).

Contact forms

If you fill in a contact form, your name and email address plus any other personal data that you have provided, will be passed to the webmaster and may be shared with other members of the society.

Cookies

Session cookies are used for authentication. When a member logs in to the OPS site, these cookies store their authentication details. The cookie contains only; the username, expiration time, and hashed (encrypted) partial ID data. Normally this cookie expires after two days, 14 days if you select “Remember Me” when you login.

If you comment on a post a ‘comment cookie’ is saved. This stores some of your details to save you having to re-enter them for further comments. They will usually expire after a year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data

If you fill in a contact form, your name, email address and any other personal information in it may be retained indefinitely.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Photographs uploaded to the website may be retained indefinitely as an archive of the activities of the society.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive details of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Members and former members may ask for their photographs to be removed at any time by contacting the webmaster. Your photographs will be removed within 30 days.

If there is a photograph of you on the website and you wish it to be removed, please contact the webmaster and give as much information as you can about where the photograph is to be found and the photograph will be removed within 30 days.

How we protect your data

We have password protection for members’ personal data on the website. All other personal data that we collect will be stored in accordance with the society’s Data Protection and Social Media Policy.
