L&CPU Annual Club Competition 2021

Oldham Photographic Society entered this year’s L&CPU Annual Club Competition with reasonable hopes after our success in the GB Cup. We did not expect to do as well as we did though, and were consequently thrilled when it was announced that we had won the Open section by a good margin with Chorley in second place. The Nature section was more difficult as there are some seriously good nature photographers in the L&CPU, but we still managed to come a very creditable 5th…when the open and nature scores were added together, we were still ahead of Chorley by 2 points and declared overall winners.

The first and second placed clubs are invited to represent the Federation in the big PAGB interclub PDI competition, which is generally held at Warwick University in July. The top 8 clubs from last year’s competition (which includes the L&CPU’s Wigan 10 FC) have an automatic right to compete, plus two qualifying clubs from each Federation (Oldham PS and Chorley PS for this year). Our goal then is to do the very best we can to be in the top eight clubs after the first round and compete in the final. That will take some doing but is not actually impossible if we work hard.

These are the images we entered in the L&CPU. We’ll be able to add in some images from previous years that have not been seen at Warwick before…so wish us luck!

In the gallery below, you can swap between the Open and Nature sections and see what images were used from each member…hover over the thumbnail image to see the score given out of 20 by our two judges, Phil and Gwen Charnock.
