The Adrian Deaville Memorial Competition

Home » The Adrian Deaville Memorial Competition

On 21st March 2024, four clubs, Rochdale PS, Rochdale &DCC, Oldham CC and Oldham PS came together, once again, to remember a young photographer and friend, Adrian Deaville, who tragically died in an air crash on 23rd March 1994. Adrian worked at the camera shops in Oldham and Rochdale and the competition was begun by Adrian’s parents, Barrie and Joyce Deaville. Sadly, this year, we were unable to have Adrian’s parents as our guests as they have moved away.

Oldham PS hosted this year’s event and the meeting was run as a hybrid, with some members on Zoom links and others in the meeting room. Our judge was the very experienced David Butler MFIAP MPSA2 ARPS BPE5* HonLCPU and the winning club was Oldham Photographic Society. Oldham Camera Club will host the event next year.

Thanks to the Judge and to all the clubs who took part. The top image was “Expecting Trouble” from Alan Andrew of Oldham Camera Club, scoring 20 points. Our OPS top scoring images, with Warrior Princess and Mating Blow Flies also scoring a maximum 20, and the remainder scoring 19, are shown here:

Christine accepted the trophy on behalf of OPS.
