We were so looking forward to a well packed clubroom to welcome members of Evolve Group to our annual inter-club contest…then then temperature dropped and the snow came down. Sadly only 12 of our members managed to get to the club room, but four Evolve group members valiantly battled the snowy conditions to drive all the way from the Wigan area to Chadderton. Also deserving a medal was judge Tillman Kleinhans. During the day, Tillman had been offered the opportunity to be zoomed in to judge the event remotely, but had opted to drive instead. We remembered last year when we drove to Evolve in equally snowy conditions, so are planning to bring the next event forward a bit, to avoid a repeat.
The meeting room was freezing but the friendship was warm and, with a buffet supper organised for 25+ people, there was plenty of food to go around and even some doggy bags to take home later. Oldham PS won the battle, with more of our images collecting the highest marks, but Evolve certainly gave us a run for our money.
Below is a gallery of Oldham PS images that were held back and awarded marks of 18 to 20. Tillman’s favourite image of the night (winning image) was “Leap of Faith”, a fantastic shot of a young gymnast on the bar routine, by Eddie Leach, featured below. Thanks to Tillman and Evolve for making it a really good evening.
