L&CPU Annual Club Knockout

The Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union (L&CPU) held their annual Club Knockout competition at Elm Bank Banqueting & Conference Centre, Eccles on 18th November 2022. Peter Gennard MFIAP EFIAPd2 from the Midlands judged the competition. 38 clubs entered, so they only used our first four chosen images from the eight that we had selected to represent us, to keep the numbers manageable on the night.

Each “round”, the judge drops his least favourite images, until there are just 6 left and then he chooses a best image (in this case “Greenfinch Encounter” by Gill O’Meara from Poulton le Fylde). Round one losses score 1 point, round 2 losses score 2 points and so on and the winning image gains one extra point for their club and the winning club has the most points.

Brianna’s image “The Composer” stayed in until the last six, which comprised two men with long beards and four natural history images!

Well done to Bri! Our final placing was third, after Poulton le Fylde and Chorley PS. We should be very proud of this as some very prestigious clubs came much lower down the rankings…though this can easily happen with only four images used.
